Annie Morgan, founder of The Gospel Net, is teaching a special intensive at Northwest Mission Institute this week titled Awakening Spiritual Interest. How can you find the spiritual interest that people innately have? How do you help them to see that they have spiritual interest? How can you know when people's spiritual interest has been piqued? These are some of the questions that Annie will answer this week.
There is a God-shaped vacuum in the heart of every person, and it can never be filled by any created thing. It can only be filled by God, made known through Jesus Christ.(Blaise Pascal)
The "God sized hole" in our lives has become a cliche, even laughable phrase in secular society. People reject the idea as an entirely ridiculous concept. But in the garden of Eden God promised to put "enmity" in man's heart. Is that enmity a desire for goodness? Is it a yearning for God, a yearning that we may not even understand? When we are truly honest with ourselves, when we look inside our lives, we have to recognize that nothing can satisfies us—not religion, not relationships, not money or possessions, not substances, not counselors, not position, not power, not fame—nothing can satisfy us to contentment. Except for Jesus. Annie's challenge is to help NMI students to become masters at understanding the heart-needs of humanity and fanning those needs into an intense desire for Jesus. Please pray for her and for our students over the next several days.
Annie has been involved in personal evangelism for over 15 years, working with Mission College, Amazing Facts Center of Evangelism, for several churches, and alongside her husband, a pastor in the Upper Columbia Conference and an experienced evangelist.
