NMI Boot Camp will begin registration on June 17 at the Pasco Ephesus church. Two churches will be hosting NMI Boot Camp, the Pasco Ephesus Seventh-day Adventist church and the Kennewick Seventh-day Adventist church. We're thrilled to work with both churches, and see a lot of potential for ministry this summer. The Kennewick church will be doing an evangelistic meeting in July and August with evangelist Jason Morgan. The Pasco Ephesus church will be hosting an addiction recovery class throughout the summer with Rich and Susan Kollenberg of Just As I Am Ministries. Both churches are already actively involved in ministry, and NMI students will be participating in their efforts to reach their community.
Our emphasis at NMI is developing people who are passionate about personal evangelism and who have the training necessary to lead out in their local church. To accomplish this we seek to immerse the student in the work of personal evangelism. What is personal evangelism? It's anything that can be done to influence someone for Christ in a one-on-one relationship. We'll have several public meetings throughout the summer, but we'll be using those events as excuses to meet new people, while our primary goal is to start building relationships with them, gain their confidence and make them into disciples of Jesus. We'll use health evangelism, literature evangelism, public evangelism, and every other form of evangelism necessary so that we can be effective in the work of personally connecting with people.
When you think about how Jesus worked you start to realize that he was not a "model" or a "method" guy; he was a people guy. He held public meetings in nature and in houses and in towns, but the Bible writers chose to focus on the one-on-one interactions. The most enduring gospel presentation in John 3 was to one man, Nicodemus. Jesus let the disciples go into town while he sat on a well so that he could meet that one woman who would be drawing water in the middle of the day (John 4). Even in a crowd, when one woman wanted to be healed, Jesus stopped everything to pay attention to her. You see, it's not the "world" that Jesus is interested in; it's you and me, individuals. For us to be effective in reaching people we have to be effective mingling with them, building their confidence in us, meeting their needs, and calling them to follow Jesus. That takes determined effort to be where they are, and know what their needs are and how we can help. Of course, it also means that we have to know how to lead someone to Jesus and show them Truth from God's word. All of these things will be taught and modeled at NMI.
If you haven't already signed up, apply today and join us for an amazing summer of learning and ministry. Space is limited, so don't dilly dally!
Registration is open from 1:30 - 5:30 pm on Sunday, June 17. We'll have a supper prepared for you at 5:30 and an orientation meeting from 6:30 - 7:30. At registration you'll be assigned to a host family and roommate that you'll stay with during the program (unless you're bringing your spouse with you, in which case we'll work out specific arrangements for you ahead of time).
Here's a map of where you should come for registration.
