Outreach coordinators are not merely Bible instructors who find spiritual interests in the community and nurturing them—although they do that too—they also help equip members to engage in a lifestyle of sharing Christ. To do this, the outreach coordinator will work directly with the pastor and a group of committed members, called an Outreach Team, to encourage an outreach focused culture in the church.
Outreach coordinators are typically funded through a partnership with the local church and the conference. A missionary salary, and often housing, is provided by the church and its members. Many conferences and churches have a two-tier pay-scale for new verses experienced outreach coordinators and/or Bible workers. Contact your church and conference leadership for more detailed information. Not all conferences and churches employ profesional outreach coordinators or Bible workers. You can still be an outreach coordinator, even if your actual income comes from another full-time job.
Consider these thoughts:
"Hundreds and thousands were seen visiting families, and opening before them the Word of God. Hearts were convicted by the power of the Holy Spirit, and a spirit of genuine conversion was manifest."
Ellen G. White, Testimonies, V 9, p 126
"Many will be called into the field to labor from house to house, giving Bible readings, and praying with those who are interested."
Ellen G. White, Testimonies, V 9, p 172
"The work of God in this earth can never be finished until the men and women comprising our church membership rally to the work, and unite their efforts with those of ministers and church officers..."
Ellen G. White, Gospel Workers, p 351
Movements such as Upper Columbia Conference’s Share the Life, Washington Conference’s REACH Washington, and others throughout the North Pacific Union are actively employing Bible Worker Coordinators to inspire and train church members to be involved in outreach ministry just as Ellen White describes.
